This is an interesting and informative infographic on the 10 most common types of plagiarism.

If you are ever concerned a student has plagiarized and need help “investigating” the authenticity of their work, please contact your campus librarian, Tammy Turner.  In addition, if you would ever like her to talk about plagiarism with your class or help you teach citing sources, paraphrasing, etc., please don’t hesitate to ask.  She is happy to help!

Hashtag How Tos - Figure, Configure, Follow, Find, + Find Others

If you're like most teachers out there, you could use some help making sense of #hashtags. They're not just for Twitter anymore; they're showing up all over the place! Check out this handy article: Hashtag How Tos - Figure, Configure, Follow, Find, + Find Others

The article tells you how to find helpful hashtags using tools like Hashtagify.me and comparing the popularity of different hashtags using tools like topsy.com. Some of these resources are currently blocked on the FISD filter so it would be best to access them using your data plan or at a non-FISD filtered location.

Knowing how to use #hashtags can be a huge help in your professional growth and online professional community development.

#DearMe and International Women's Day, March 8, 2015

This Sunday (March 8) is International Women’s Day and, to honor this, YouTube has launched an inspirational project that encourages teenage women to recognize their strengths, embrace their passions and imperfections, and realize that when the going gets tough, it doesn’t mean it’s going to last forever. This empowering campaign is using social media in the most awesome of ways, and we love the message it’s sending to girls who feel left out, uncomfortable in their bodies, uncool, or just straight-up confused (AKA, how everyone feels as a teen).

Current Résumés Tips

My sister-in-law works for a major international HR company and recently shared this article. It doesn’t fit what people used to recommend for résumés when I was younger but is updated for today’s world. She says it’s spot on.

I highly recommend you take a look, especially if you help guide students in résumé building.
